Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco

Required Documents: 1) Inventory with exact number of bottles and containers

Customs Regulations: Owner has to pay full duties and taxes

Clearance: 3 to 4 working days. Customers’ presence is required for clearance.

Household Goods and Personal Effects

Required Documents: 1) Residence permit valid for two years, endorsed on the passport 2) Valid passport 3)

Inventory in English (no P.B.O.) 4) Declaration signed by customer, required for duty-free clearance 5) Original Bill of Lading, stating used personal and household effects

Customs Regulations: Used household goods are duty free if owner has used the objects personally for at least one year in a foreign country. Duty is applicable for all new items which will be 10% of the assessed value. Personal computers, whether old or new, attract a duty of 10% of the assessed value. Video cassettes would attract a screening fee.

Clearance: 3 to 4 days. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.

Remarks: All shipments, whether LCL or FCL, are inspected at the port prior to delivery, which takes place on the same day as the inspection.

Vehicles

 

Required Documents: 1) Certificate of Registration 2) Valid passport 3) Car papers 4) Export certificate or ownership title from point of origin 5) Original Bill of Lading, with complete details on the vehicle

Customs Regulations: Customer has to pay a duty of 20% on the vehicle, irrespective of it being old or new. The

Customs authorities reserve the right on the valuation assessed by them.

Clearance: 2 to 4 days.

Remarks: Vehicle can not be driven outside sea port or airport without new insurance coverage and without temporary plates.

Pets and Animals

 

Required Documents: 1) Health Certificate issued by competent veterinary surgeon, at the place of origin abroad.

This certificate must be in English.

Customs Regulations: Importation admitted provided no symptom or suspicion of infectious illness is shown. No case of rabies has been notified within a radius of 20 KM from the place of origin of the animal during the previous 3 months. Must obtain an import license prior to air freighting the pet into Bahrain. Al pets go into quarantine for a period of one month.

Clearance: 3 days. Customers’ presence is not required for clearance.

Remarks: The Health Certificate is valid 10 days (20 days for animals coming from non-European countries) from the date which this had been made out. Please avoid Thursdays and Fridays of the week as these are weekends.

Diplomatic Removals

 

Required Documents: 1) Certificate from the Embassy or the Consulate

Customs Regulations: Duty free entry for foreign diplomats. Bahrain diplomats returning to Bahrain are not privileged to a special status as in foreign countries.

Clearance: 3 to 4 working days. Customer presence not required for clearance.

Remarks: Customs authorities are authorized to make a survey at domicile.

Firearms and Weapons

 

Remarks: Firearms and weapons, even ornamental or antiques, are subject to confiscation.

New Furniture
Required Documents: 1) Original Commercial Invoice 2) Packing list 3) Copy of Bill of Lading 4) Certificate of Origin

Customs Regulations: Customer has to pay customs duties and import tax.
Clearance: 3 to 4 days. Customer’s presence is required for clearance.
