Customs Regulations: Duty free importation without examination. No TRL payable.

 

 

Firearms and Weapons

 

Required Documents: Hunting shotguns and air rifles – police permit and import license required.

Customs Regulations: One shotgun and one air gun allowed. Must be at least one year old.

 

 

Household Goods and Personal Effects

Required Documents:

  1. AWB or OBL
  2. Packing list
  3. Container manifest
  4. Consignee’s passport
  5. Evidence that consignee (importer) will stay in Cyprus over a year, i.e. Rental Agreement and/or Contract Lease and Residence Permit. (6) Invoices on new items

 

Customs Regulations: Consignee has resided for less than 365 days in Cyprus during the last two years from the time of importation. Goods used for at least one year outside of Cyprus prior to importation.

Clearance: Customer presence required for clearance? Yes

Remarks: 2.8% Temporary Refugees’ Levy (TRL) is payable on cost and freight. Usually us $3.50 per kg is acceptable as a basis for assessing value for TRL. Customs examination can be effected at residence during delivery. Video cassettes, records in reasonable quantities are allowed duty free. Sports equipment is subject to 10% duty.

New Furniture

  3. Packing list
  4. Import license for trade purposes

 

Customs Regulations: Subject to payment of 57% duty, 2.8% TRL and 8% VAT.

 

 

Pets and Animals

 

Required Documents:

  1. Rabies vaccination certificate
  2. Health certificate
  3. Import license by the local Department of Veterinary Services in Cyprus

 

Customs Regulations: Six months quarantine is required in the Government’s veterinary clinic.

 

 

Vehicles

 

Required Documents:

  1. OBL in importer’s name
  2. Vehicle Registration document in owner’s name
  3. Passport
  4. Local road insurance coverage

 

Customs Regulations: Importer is allowed to clear under Temporary importation procedure provided he has been more than one year abroad during past two years. Can be used for 365 days in the next two years.

 

Remarks: Temporary importation-duty and TRL-free/Extension of Importation up to one year. For

Diplomats – Duty and TRL free. If vehicle registration document is not in importer’s name, an authorization is required. For foreign residents intending to reside permanently (or any member of family) – TRL and registration/circulation fees payable. Prior approval for duty free importation from Customs Authorities is required. Repatriated Cypriots – one car per family duty-free if they return to take up permanent residence and they had their permanent residence abroad for a period of at least 10 years.
